Dear praying friend,
Ever since the October 7 war with Hamas began, followed by Iran and its proxies launching hundreds of rockets and missiles in their efforts to lay waste to Israel and all the people living there, my heart has gone out to all those living in the region. I’m sure yours has too.
Our missionaries living in the Land have been — and remain — on the frontlines, refusing to abandon the Jewish people that God has called them to bring the Gospel to.
At great threat to their lives and families, each of them knows the greatest danger is not death, but an eternity without Jesus.
Like everyone in Israel, they’ve known sleepless nights and constant sirens. And they’ve felt the pain of so much loss because of violence.
The only hope for peace in the Middle East is found in Jesus, the Prince of Peace — and Jewish people there are in desperate need of Him.
But I know that for our missionaries, Igal, Aviel, and Misha — the violence, uncertainty, and constant threat they faced when Israel was at war with Iran were nothing compared to the agony they feel when they hear a Jewish person in Israel say, “I don’t believe in God!”
But God is using them now more than ever!
Even recently as they bunkered down to escape the hypersonic missiles launched at them, our missionaries shared the hope of Jesus with their Jewish neighbours, friends, and contacts.
And Jewish people in Israel are being saved as a result. Praise God!
I am writing to you now, weeks after the war with Iran has ended, because our missionaries in Israel still greatly need your generous gift of support. By the time you read this letter, Igal, Aviel, and Misha will have been living in the aftermath of war with Iran for nine weeks and living with the ongoing war with Hamas for almost two years.
War creates great opportunities for Gospel ministry in the Land, but it also greatly hampers the ability for missionaries to raise their support. Now they face a significant gap in their funding that we need to meet as soon as possible.
Can you help by giving a gift now?
I know that here in the UK, Israel is a point of contention, and there is a lot of contention the way things are being handled by the government there.
But the work we are doing in Israel is not political — it is the Gospel.
The ministry of the Gospel has nothing to do with politics — it has everything to do with fulfilling the Lord’s command to bring the Good News of Jesus to the whole earth — starting
in Jerusalem and Judea — Israel.
That’s why I am praying that you can see beyond the rhetoric to where Jesus is at work.
Not even a week after the war with Iran ended, Misha told me about Irit. She lived most
of her life as an atheist. When she first met Misha, she made it very clear — “I don’t believe in God!”
Yet Misha persevered and remained a faithful witness.
That is the wonderful thing about our missionaries — even on the frontlines, they live among the people they serve. They build real, lasting relationships. That’s why Misha has been able to pray for and encourage Irit through the last couple of years of war, violence, and uncertainty.
When the war with Iran ended, Irit told Misha she was tired of running to bomb shelters and instead wants to run to Jesus.
After eight years of ministry, Irit finally repented and turned to Jesus as Messiah and Lord!
This is why your generosity is so critical. Please don’t wait to give.
We live at a time when lives in Israel can be ended at a moment’s notice.
We will not rest in our mission of reaching Jewish people in Israel with the Good News of the only One who can save them — Jesus.
Together, we can take the Gospel back where it began.
May God bless you and keep you,
Rev Joseph Steinberg, CEO International Mission to Jewish People
